Chain Reaction
Published in Paperback by Domhan Books (July, 2002)
Author: David Alexander
Average review score:

Gripping non-stop action
Mr. Alexander's trade paperback debut has all the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster, from noble if flawed hero, to a clever cast of villains. Tightly plotted and paced, and completely enthralling.

Charmed Lives: A Family Romance
Published in Hardcover by Random House (October, 1979)
Author: Michael Korda

Grab this book if you can!
If this book wasn't impossible to get a hold of, I would have probably bought it for everyone I know. Unfortunately as of now, only used copies of it (why would anyone want to sell it? ) show up occassionally in shops and online auction sites. I first read this book about ten years ago in Hungarian translation (and with the pages referring to the 1956 revolution conveniently edited out) and I was immediately hooked by it. My father and I faught daily for the only copy we had. It is a fascinating, incredibly well written story of a family of three boys who made it from the Hungarian countryside all the way to the top of the Hollywood and English elite. It is one of the most inspiring rags-to-riches stories I've ever read. It also offers a great insight to how movies and stars were made in the Hollywood Golden Age. I still laugh out loud while reading the anecdotes of which the book offers plenty. Written by the nephew of Alexander Korda, and son of famed Art Director Vincent Korda, Michael offers an insider's view on how the post WWII era high society lived. This book is a rare gem, funny as hell, uplifting, educational. A must for movie buffs.

Chasing the monsoon
Published in Unknown Binding by Penguin Books ()
Author: Alexander Frater
Average review score:

Theme India
I never liked India. Too much confusion, too much humanity. I read this book and now I have an unending desire to visit India; top to bottom. Not during Monsoon, not during the dry season, but sometime in between. Mr. Frater delivers an unblinking look at the beauty and inspiration which lies beneath the clutter and dreck. Damn the weather, look at what's there. I envy you the experience of the first read.

Children in the Church Today: An Orthodox Perspective
Published in Paperback by St Vladimirs Seminary Pr (July, 1997)
Authors: Magdalen, Sister Magdalen, and Alexander Schmemann
Average review score:

An excellent guide for the Orthodox parent today!
This book should be given as a present to all expecting mothers! It is an excellent guide for parents. It shows how to bring children up in the Church from their very conception! It has a good discussion of those difficult adolescent years and ways of tackling all those difficult questions and problems. It has a thorough awareness of the situation today (the influence of TV, modern music etc), yet embodies the teaching of the Church as expressed in the works of Starets Sophrony the disciple of St. Silouan, the Elder of the monastery which first published this book. Originally a series of talks given at the monastery in England it is slowly becoming a classic in contemporary child care.

Chromatography: An Adventure in Graduate School
Published in Paperback by American Chemical Society (December, 1977)
Author: Guy B. Alexander
Average review score:

it is very excellent for chemistry student
Altough it is an old book it is akin to the new kind of literature " science in fiction " not science fiction. it is exciting reading this book and you learn a lot of thing about chromatography when you are reading this novel like book so it is not boring, I recommend this book as an introduction book for chromatography lectures. You really wonder what will do at the end of the book.. I strongly recommend to all chemists.

Authors: Robyn Karney, Joel W. Finler, Ronald Bergan, and Alexander Walker
Average review score:

A must have for cinema nuts!
WOW! This book, or shall I say encyclopedia, is amazing! As the title states, it covers 1894 to the 2001 Oscars. It includes original posters and stills for more movies than you thought existed. I really enjoyed looking at the original posters for all the different styles and seeing how they've changed over the years. Highlights from each year are included as well as Oscar winners (when applicable), and story snippets about random movies that came out that year. A must have!
